Canon has introduced two new cameras in the Philippines — the EOS R50 V and PowerShot V1 — both tailored for video-focused content creators and digital storytellers.
“These new additions to the PowerShot V and EOS V Series are designed with the modern Filipino creator in mind — whether they're capturing everyday moments or producing compelling video content. With a strong focus on portability, user-friendliness, and high-quality output, these cameras are ideal for vlogging, livestreaming, and short-form video production,” said Jian Liu, Director for Consumer Information and Imaging at Canon Marketing (Philippines), Inc.
Both cameras are compact and lightweight, with intuitive button layouts optimized for one-handed operation. They support multiple video recording options and can also function as webcams, making them versatile tools for a range of creative projects.
EOS R50 V: A Mirrorless Camera for Aspiring Creators
The EOS R50 V features a 24.2-megapixel APS-C sensor and interchangeable lens capability, offering creators more flexibility in their video production. Canon highlights this model as being perfect for budding videographers looking for greater control and creative options.
This camera includes Cinema EOS-style features, a newly added Slow & Fast Motion mode, customizable color filters, and a Cinema View display option for enhanced filming control. It also comes equipped with 3-mic noise reduction technology and supports 24-bit, 4-channel LPCM audio input, providing superior sound quality for recordings.
A notable feature is the Register People Priority function, which enables the camera to prioritize and track specific individuals in busy scenes — a capability typically found in higher-end models.
Additionally, the EOS R50 V supports UVC/UAC 4K 60p livestreaming through a single USB-C connection, enabling smooth and detailed live broadcasts ideal for concerts or sports events. It also works with Canon’s Live Switcher Mobile Multi-Camera app, allowing users to seamlessly combine feeds from multiple devices for dynamic multi-angle livestreams.
Other creator-friendly features include a vertical tripod socket, auto-rotating info display, and an ergonomic grip for effortless vertical shooting.
PowerShot V1: Canon’s First Compact Video-Centric Camera
Canon also launched the PowerShot V1, the brand’s first compact camera designed primarily for video. It features a 22.3-megapixel 1.4-inch type sensor and a built-in zoom lens with a 17–52mm equivalent range for video and 16–50mm for stills.
Canon describes the PowerShot V1 as a fusion of the PowerShot V10’s video-first approach and the versatility of the PowerShot G7 X Mark III, but with significantly enhanced specs. This new model delivers improved low-light performance and better image quality, making it an excellent choice for creators seeking a compact yet powerful tool.
Canon's First Power Zoom Lens: RF-S14-30mm f/4-6.3 IS STM PZ
Alongside the new cameras, Canon also unveiled the RF-S14-30mm f/4-6.3 IS STM PZ, its first lens with integrated power zoom functionality. This fixed-length lens maintains a consistent center of gravity while zooming, making it an ideal companion for use with gimbals or other stabilizing gear.
